Hastelloy B-3 coated electrodes are mainly made up of Nickel (about 65%), Molybdenum (28-32%), Iron (1-3%), along with trace amounts of Carbon, Cobalt, and other elements. These electrodes are specifically engineered to withstand hydrochloric acid and other reducing environments. Their mechanical properties boast a tensile strength of around 100,000 psi (690 MPa), yield strength ranging from 45,000 to 60,000 psi (310 to 415 MPa), and an elongation of 30-40%. They provide excellent weldability with minimal carbide precipitation, which helps reduce the risk of intergranular corrosion, making them perfect for joining similar Hastelloy B-3 alloys or repairing corrosion-resistant equipment.
