What is AWS Class E630-16 Coated Electrodes?

AWS E630‑16 electrodes create a martensitic precipitation-hardening weld metal that contains about 0.03–0.05% carbon, 16.0–16.75% chromium, 4.5–5.0% nickel, 3.25–4.0% copper, up to 0.75% molybdenum, and 0.15–0.30% niobium + tantalum. The as-welded tensile strength usually exceeds 930 MPa (135 ksi) and can reach around 1,030 MPa (149 ksi) after post-weld aging. The yield strength is a minimum of 730 MPa (105 ksi), and elongation varies from 7% in the as-welded state to about 17% after proper heat treatment.
