What is AWS Class E410-16 Coated Electrodes?

AWS E410-16 electrodes create a martensitic stainless weld metal that contains up to 0.12% carbon, 11.0–13.5% chromium, around 0.7% nickel, and up to 0.75% molybdenum, along with trace amounts of manganese, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, and copper. The weld metal achieves a minimum tensile strength of 75 ksi (with observed strengths reaching up to 94–109 ksi), a yield strength of about 64–71 ksi, and an elongation of at least 20% (typically around 22%). The deposit hardens in the air as it cools and benefits from preheating (around 400°F) and post-weld heat treatment to improve ductility and toughness.
