This specific composition provides excellent resistance to thermal fatigue and stress corrosion cracking, while ensuring the weld metal remains tough even in sub-zero temperatures. It boasts a tensile strength of around 75–85 ksi and offers outstanding metallurgical stability when exposed to thermal shock and high-temperature conditions.

This balanced combination gives it good strength, helps it resist oxidation, and keeps it strong at high temperatures. ER16-8-2 is often used for welding kinds like 304H and 347H in high-temperature tasks. It helps to create strong welds and lowers the chance of cracking while keeping its strength in very hot conditions.
