AWS Class ERTi-5 filler metal is a titanium alloy made up of roughly 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium, commonly referred to as Ti-6Al-4V or Grade 5 titanium. It boasts a high tensile strength of around 895 MPa (130 ksi) while maintaining good ductility and toughness. ERTi-5 excels in resisting corrosion in both oxidizing and chloride-rich environments. However, it’s not ideal for autogenous welding due to its susceptibility to cracking, but it performs admirably in controlled welds with matching filler. It meets ASTM B863 standards and is perfect for high-strength structural and pressure applications involving titanium alloys.
