Iron, molybdenum, and silicon are added to Haynes HR-160 Welding Wire to improve corrosion and high-temperature resistance. The main constituents of this wire are nickel (36–40%), cobalt (28–32%), and chromium (26–30%). With a tensile strength usually exceeding 80,000 psi, this special alloy provides outstanding mechanical strength along with remarkable resistance to oxidation, sulfidation, and thermal fatigue. It offers outstanding weldability in TIG and MIG applications and maintains structural integrity in temperatures above 1800°F (980°C). For the most difficult thermal and chemical service conditions, HR-160 produces welds that are stable, have little spatter, and are resistant to cracking.
